Green inner diamond. Check. Homemade middle bit. Check. .... hmmmm ..... Other than me thinking that the fabric I have chosen for the outer (large) diamonds, is not really suitable for this, I like it. Maybe one could use the fabric better ?That'll be the next one to try.

If you are still considering batiks for the background fabric, consider looking at two shops I've used that ship internationally: http://www.sewbatik.com/ and/or if you use eBay, http://stores.ebay.com/philly-fabrics?_rdc=1.
Philly Fabrics has an ever changing array of fabrics so check back often.
IMO, Sew Batik's fabric is a best suited for machine stitching, but I use it for hand stitching too.
